Connecting rod bolt torque: 50nm (37ft.lb) + 70deg turn
RISKS OF DAMAGE DURING ASSEMBLY:
Take extra care to keep the connecting rod from hitting the cylinder liner walls or crank shaft journal when installing the piston/rod assembly.
Connecting rod caps are fracture cracked. Handle them carefully and be sure to orient them correctly before installing the bolts.
WHEN RE-ASSEMBLING:
Apply SAE-30 engine oil to bolt friction surface and threads.
Correct orientation of piston/rod assembly: the long side of the rod goes toward the camshaft.
Connecting rod comes with new bolts. If the bolts are loosened after being torqued, they need to be replaced.
WHEN INSTALLED:
Check that the connecting rods are sliding side to side on the crankshaft pins and that their sideways clearance, measured with a feeler gauge, is between 0.10-0.33mm (.004-.013 in)
